Team 35 Challengers
We all know exercise is good for our mental health, but have you set yourself a challenge for 2019 and want a worthy cause to support?
We are looking for 35 individuals or groups to undertake a challenge in celebration of our 35th anniversary and do something awesome to help support children’s mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
By taking part in a challenge event in 2019, you will automatically join #Team 35, our team of bccs heroes.
You will receive regular updates about bccs events, information about the vital services we provide to children and families, along with support and advice about your challenge event.
We already have some challengers who have signed up to do something for us and we wish them well for their training.
In February, Jon Robinson – a teacher at St Bonaventure’s High School School, Forest Gate - will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. This is an amazing feat of endurance and we would like to wish Jon a heartfelt 'good luck' for his challenge. If you would like to sponsor him, please go to his My Donate page to leave him a message of support.
In April - Mark Butcher, Darrelle Russell, Fr.Marek Pabis, Jacqui Phillips and Joe Dear will be undertaking the Virgin London Marathon. See more about their challenge on our Virgin Money London Marathon Page.
Our intrepid adventurer Hans De Vrind, a parishioner of Christ the Eternal High Priest in Gidea Park will be cycling from London to Paris in May, undertaking the 100-mile Prudential Ride London challenge in July and trekking the Sahara Desert in November – amazing!
Hans has done many amazing challenges for us in previous years and we are delighted to welcome him again to #Team 35.
You can see our calendar is starting to fill up, but we still have room for more and have secured charity places for:
May - Vitality London 10K run through London’s famous landmarks.
September - Cycle London to Brighton 55-mile cycle challenge
Experience the indescribable rush of adrenaline that jumping out of a plane gives you; imagine standing at the open doorway of a plane flying at 10,000 feet - you look out at the countryside below - then edge towards the door - you lean forward and then…jump!
You can choose from 21 jump sites around the UK and can select a weekend that suits you. Simply buy your place through our partner company - Skyline - and select 'The Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society' when you choose your charity. They’ll let us know once you’ve registered, and we’ll send you a free bccs t-shirt along with a handy welcome pack filled with helpful fundraising ideas.
Experience the most spectacular views of London, whilst dangling in free space, 80m above the ground!
This challenge is perfect for thrill seekers and daring fundraisers. It's also the perfect way to see breath taking views twenty miles across London including many of London’s famous landmarks.
For more information about either of these challenges, simply email us.
But it's not all about the thrill ride; do you like to take things a little easier and get the whole family involved? Why not join us on one of our Anniversary Sponsored Walks – what about a gentle stroll along Southend sea front, an invigorating walk through Epping Forest or a fun community walk at Barleylands Farm in Billericay, there is something for everyone. Keep an eye on our Events pages for dates and more details.
Whether you are a runner, cyclist or adrenaline seeker, we have plenty of events for you to get involved with, but if you can't see any that suit you then why not take on your own challenge? If you have signed up to a challenge and you think you can fundraise for us, then let us know; we can support you throughout your journey with a dedicated point of contact along the way.
Whatever you decide to do this year to challenge yourself, good luck and enjoy it!
