Anniversary Sponsored Walks

Gearing up for another round of Annual Sponsored Walks

In May and June every year, throughout Essex and East London, people join in their local Sponsored Walk to raise vital funds for bccs.

Last year, over £13,000 was raised by walkers from all over the diocese who just thought they would ‘do their bit for bccs’ and in doing so added to this amazing total.

This year we are hoping for a record number of walkers to join in and with your help, we can make the walks a resounding community success yet again. Please encourage family, friends, relatives and pets to join in too – and don’t forget to send us your photos!

If you would like to join in your local walk, please contact the Walk Organiser below and download the Sponsorship Form by clicking on the link underneath:

From little acorns..

Sponsored Walks for bccs began many years ago with a walk from Southend Pier to the Cardinal Heenan Centre in Ilford. The following year, a dear supporter of the society – Joe Browne – suggested that all parishes could organise a fundraising walk to Brentwood Cathedral.

This idea evolved to become one of the Society’s biggest fundraising events and although the walk itself has had to adapt over the years into more localised walks, they still remain an integral part of our fundraising calendar.

The Walk Organisers

The Knights of St. Columba have been fantastic supporters of the event for many years and many of them are indeed walk coordinators for their particular area. It is true to say that the ongoing success of the walks is down to the relentless efforts of the many organisers who promote and coordinate for us in their own parish – we are truly grateful for their support – THANK YOU!
