The Priests - Anniversary Classical Concert

To help us to celebrate our 35th Anniversary, we were delighted that the classical singing trio 'The Priests' agreed to hold an Anniversary Concert for us at Brentwood Cathedral on Saturday 15th June 2019.

The classical musical trio is made up of three Roman Catholic priests from the Diocese of Down and Connor, Northern Ireland, brothers Fr. Eugene and Fr. Martin O'Hagan and Fr. David Delargy. They have been singing together since they were students at St MacNissi's College, County Antrim in the 1970s.

After signing a deal with Sony BMG in April 2008, The Priests recorded their debut album in Northern Ireland and Rome, with the honour of having been allowed to record in St. Peter's Basilica, The Vatican.

In December of the same year, they scooped the Guinness World Record for "Fastest-selling UK debut for a classical act" and their debut album turned platinum in Ireland.

The Event Itself

Many months were spent planning and organising this event and we were thrilled that The Priests and their accompanist Ruth McGinley were able to perform to a packed cathedral.

Their repertoire included many beautiful well-known hymns and songs as well as some entertaining pieces to get the audience clapping and joining in.

The concert was a fantastic, flagship event for our special year and will be remembered by the bccs community for many years to come.

We would like to thank all our volunteers who gave up their time to help to assist with parking, checking-in guests, ushering them to their seats, selling programmes and helping with the clear-up operation - it was a huge #Team35 effort and we simply couldn't have done it without their help.
