Abseil down the Orbit
On Friday 12th July this year, a group of 30 thrill-seekers - including our Director Bernadette - undertook an 80 metre free-fall abseil from a platform high on the ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture in the Olympic Park in Stratford.
This challenge was a perfect way to celebrate our 35th anniversary year and we were delighted to have the support of our corporate sponsor Kilnbridge Construction who themselves put forward 20 of their own members of staff to undertake this exciting challenge for us.
The experience involved abseiling from the platform down to the ground and is described as a “free-fall” abseil as challengers do not touch anything once they have moved below the abseil platform until they reach the ground.
Thanks to all our abseilers - we know that you enjoyed the experience and would like to thank you all for supporting our work.
Go to Wire and Sky's Facebook page to view your photos - we hope they'll bring back happy memories of your exciting abseil!
Bernadette would like to thank everyone who supported her challenge by sponsoring her and sending her messages of support.
