In January, Kirsten - a young parishioner from Most Holy Redeemer, Billericay decided to undertake a nail-painting challenge and has pledged to raise funds for us by painting 35 sets of nails throughout 2019. She has already made a start among her friends at Youth Club and we would like to thank her for doing this for us.
In February, Jon Robinson – Year 7 Head and teacher at St Bonaventure’s High School School, Forest Gate climbed to heights of 5894m to the summit of Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise funds for us. This is an amazing feat of endurance and we would like to say a heartfelt 'thank you' to Jon from all of the team.
In April - Mark Butcher, Darelle Russell, Fr.Marek Pabis, Jacqui Phillips and Joe Dear undertook the Virgin London Marathon in order to raise vital funds for us. All of them completed the race and were pleased with their times and so far have reached their fundraising targets for us - thank you all!
In May - we had 7 members of our London Vitality #Team35 running in the Bank Holiday Monday 10K race for us. We would like to thank them all for supporting our work by running for us this year.
In June, our 'Super-Supporter' Hans De Vrind, a parishioner of Christ the Eternal High Priest in Gidea Park, took part in the London to Amsterdam 400 mile bike ride which took place over 4 days – amazing! Hans is doing these challenges not just in support of our work but also for Little Haven's and St. Francis Hospices; we all feel very lucky that we are one of his chosen charities.
In July - 30intrepid thrill seekers - including our director Bernadette and 20 challengers from Kilnbridge Construction - took on a free-fall Abseil from the ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Olympic Park in Stratford. We were delighted that all our abseilers went through with the challenge and thank them for their support.
If you would like to talk about undertaking something for us - big or small - we would love to hear from you.
